Wiyot Tribe

The department understands that today's youngsters are tomorrow's environmental stewards. With that in mind, the department holds monthly education activities for tribal youth and their families. Activities, taking place on-and off-reservation, have included astronomy workshops, community organic gardening, wildlife viewing and refuge tours, surf camp and ocean ecology workshops, boat tours of Humboldt Bay, tide pool ecology, coastal dunes tours, and introductory birding workshops.
